Smart Film for Conference Rooms in Dallas–Fort Worth — private for the meeting, open in between

A smart film conference room keeps the open-office look and still handles HR or legal conversations. Smart film turns any switchable glass office partition in Dallas from clear to private with one switch: it keeps the open-office look and gives the room privacy at the flip of a switch: clear between meetings, frosted the moment the door closes. Sun Masters installs it across Dallas–Fort Worth, wired as one zone with a wall switch, remote or your room controller.

Why conference rooms are a common smart film job

Frosted film gives privacy but kills the open look, and blinds on glass walls close the room off. Smart film gives you both.

HR, legal and finance meetings

Go private for the conversation, clear again when it is over, without anyone getting up to close blinds.

Glare on the display

Frost the wall behind the camera or opposite the screen for video calls, then open it back up.

Client-facing offices

It suits law firms, wealth managers and medical groups that want clients to see their meeting is not on display.

Huddle rooms and phone booths

Small glass rooms feel bigger when clear and usable when private.

How a conference room smart film install works

1

Measure and plan the zone

We measure each pane, the door and the sidelites, decide how many zones you want, and map the wire path to the transformer and switch.

2

Power and controls

A low-voltage transformer goes above the ceiling or in a cabinet. Your electrician brings power to it; we connect the switch or remote, or a dry-contact trigger from your room controller.

3

Film, wire, test

Each pane is cleaned, filmed and wired through the frame. The door gets a transfer hinge or loop. We test every state with you before we leave.

What a typical room costs

  • Glass wall, 8 by 10 ft (80 sq ft): $6,000 – $8,000 installed, plus about $150 for the zone’s transformer.
  • Add a glass door and sidelite (about 30 sq ft): $2,250 – $3,000.
  • Electrician rough-in: quoted by your electrician.
  • Transformer and controls: about $150 per zone for the transformer, with a wall switch or remote; AV integration priced per system.

Options that make it better

  • Frosted band plus smart film: a permanent band at desk height with switchable glass above keeps monitors hidden all day.
  • Logo cut-outs: branding that reads in both states.
  • Dimming: some films support partial haze for glare control without full privacy.
  • Multiple zones: switch the door separately from the wall, or two rooms from one panel.

Conference room smart film FAQ

How much does smart film cost for a conference room?

A typical 8-by-10-foot glass wall is about 80 square feet, which lands at $6,000 to $8,000 installed at our $75 to $100 per square foot rate, plus about $150 for the zone’s transformer. An 80 square foot wall plus a glass door and sidelite lands around $8,250 to $11,000. See the smart film cost guide for the breakdown.

Can the whole room switch with one button?

Yes. We wire every pane in the room to one transformer and one switch, so the room goes private in under a second with one press, and clear again when the meeting ends.

Can it tie into our room scheduling or AV system?

Usually. The transformer can take a dry-contact or low-voltage trigger, so most room controllers can switch the glass when a meeting starts, and voice assistants can switch it through a compatible smart plug or relay.

Does the glass have to be opaque, or can it dim?

Standard PDLC is either clear or frosted. Some PDLC films support dimming controllers that set partial haze for a softer look; ask at the estimate if that matters for your room.

Will people hear us through smart film?

Smart film does not change the acoustics of the glass. If sound privacy matters, pair it with sealed door sweeps and gaskets or consider laminated smart glass on new partitions.

Can we put our logo on it?

Yes. A cut logo or a frosted band can be combined with smart film, so the branding stays visible in both states while the rest of the wall switches.

Does it work with glass doors?

Yes. Glass doors get their own lead wire routed through a transfer hinge or a flexible loop so the door still swings freely.

What happens in a power outage?

Standard PDLC goes frosted when power is lost, so the room defaults to private. Reverse film that defaults to clear is available for spaces where that is preferred.

How long does the install take, and do we need to close the room?

One conference room is a one-day install. We work after hours if the room cannot be down during the day, and the electrician rough-in can happen before we arrive.

Can it be used as a projection screen?

Some PDLC films can. In the frosted state the glass works as a rear-projection surface, which lets a glass wall double as a presentation screen; ask which film we quote if you want this.

Is smart film OK for a leased office?

Yes. It is applied to the surface of the glass and can be removed at the end of the lease, and we supply the spec sheet most landlords and property managers ask for.

Which DFW businesses have you done this for?

Offices across Dallas–Fort Worth, including a project with eight private offices, plus a separate conference room. The videos on this page are our installs.
